Rocky Mount, N.C. ? A Rocky Mount man who volunteered as a coach in the city's baseball league in the 1980s and 1990s is accused of taking indecent liberties with two former players, according to the Nash County Sheriff's Office.
Raeford E. Peace, 50, of 4120 Ketch Point Drive, surrendered to deputies last week on seven counts of taking indecent liberties with a child.
Investigators said Peace victimized two players on the baseball team between 1982 and 1997, when the victims were between 11 and 15 years old. The sheriff's office launched an investigation in December.
Rocky Mount city officials said Peace was employed as a part-time scorekeeper from 1993 to 2002. He stopped volunteering as a baseball coach about 5 years ago.
A neighbor told WRAL News that Peace, who is also a gospel singer with CT Davis Ministries Right Turn, told her about the allegations and says he is innocent.?
