St. John's will be taking on the South Florida Bulls in a Big East Conference basketball game at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Tampa Bay Times Forum.
It's been a tough year for the Red Storm this season. The Johnnies (8-9, 2-4) have struggled to score, only averaging 66 points per game. It's not a surprise that the team has seen it's share of bumps in the road. With such a young team there just isn't a lot of consistency right now.
South Florida (10-8, 3-2) has looked solid this campaign with a winning record thus far in conference play. The Bulls are led by senior forward Augustus Gilchrist and junior guard Jawanza Poland who average 11 and 10 points respectively.
South Florida is actually even more offensively challenged than the Red Storm (61 points per game) but plays with much more experience. The one area St. John's could dominate is on the glass. While the Red Storm aren't as big inside, the Bulls are not very good at cleaning the glass. St. John's can also look to run off of turnovers, which South Florida can be prone to in bunches.
Moe Harkless is the unquestioned star of the team and could have his way inside. If St. John's is going to win on the road against a tough Big East foe, Harkless will have to lead the young squad.
The game can be seen on SNY and ESPN3.
